Bullard-Havens Technical High School is located in Bridgeport, Ct. We have 810 students from five towns and enroll grades 9-12 and also offer adult education.
The Information Technology program at Bullard-Havens prepares students for the demands and enormous opportunities available for skilled workers in the information technology field.
Our classes use projects for a hands-on approach to work through and problem-solve. With each new project, students gain excellent teamwork, leadership, critical-thinking and technical skills.
Learning computer science and information technology prepares our young adults for the world we live in today. There are many jobs and occupations that use these skills directly, such as Web Designers, Network Administrators, Software Developers, Database Administrators, IT and Cyber Security Specialists, Robotics Engineers, and the list goes on and on.
Students learn the basic functions and components of computers by building and disassembling, installing operating systems, performing hardware and software upgrades, and troubleshooting common software and hardware computer problems.
Students learn basic webpage design, which includes digital graphics, web accessibility, web usability, web audio and video to create interactive websites.
An introduction to the fundamentals of computer programming logic and problem solving with topics that include pseudocode, flowcharting, data types, functions, classes, loops and arrays.
Students will learn how to safeguard computers, networks, servers and other electronic equipment and discover the importance of analyzing equipment for security weaknesses.
Students will gain training in basic networking for local area networks, workstations, and the Internet by setting up small networks and testing them. The curriculum will help prepare students for A+ and networking certification examinations.
Students reaching an acceptable level of proficiency may be eligible for Work-based Learning (WBL).
